GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2010
and
Fritz Pölking Award 2010

Take part …

… in the contest “GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year (GDT-EWPY) 2010” and the „Fritz Pölking Award (FPA) 2010“! Until April 6 amateurs and professionals from all over Europe (for the GDT-EWPY) and from all over the world (for the FPA) are invited to take part in this renown competition. Send us your most excellent photographs; we are looking for fresh ideas and unusual perspectives.

„In 2010 join the GDT in celebrating a special year: our contest “European Wildlife Photographer of the Year (EWPY) is going to celebrate its 10th anniversary, and we are indeed very pleased to see what has become of it. Every year many thousand photographs from all over Europe are entered; in 2009 photographers from almost 30 European countries participated – a new record in the history of this competition! For a long time the EWPY has been well known among photographers, the media and expert audience for its high quality of submitted and awarded photographs.

“Your photographs should portray the fascinating beauty of nature but also point to its endangered and fragile state. They should evoke deep feelings and give room for emotions – which they only will when the viewer can rely on their being truthful and when that what we see is actually part of nature.” (Martin Eisenhawer, GDT-Präsident)

In recognition of the photographic work of well-known photographer Fritz Pölking, publishing house “Tecklenborg” in cooperation with the GDT has launched the Fritz Pölking Award and the Fritz Pölking Junior Award in 2008. This award is presented within the context of the GDT contest “European Wildlife Photographer of the Year” and is awarded annually for extraordinary work in the field of wildlife photography. This may either be a special wildlife photography project or a portfolio of individual photographs.

There we will be cash prizes for the winners as well as the runners-up of each category. The overall winner of the EWPY will receive a cheque for 2 000 € as will the winner of the FPA. The winner of the „Fritz Pölking Junior Award“ (for photographers from all over the world up to the age of 25) will receive 1 500 € and an AC-Foto voucher of 500 €.

All photographers whose pictures are selected will receive the exhibition catalogue. The overall winner of EWPY, FPA and of the FPJunior Award as well as the winners and runners-up in each category will receive free tickets for the International Nature Photography Festival in Lünen, where the winning photographs will be presented to the public for the first time and where the award ceremony will be held.
